FCP Feature Wish List – Someone else’s.

April 1, 2010 News No Comments

Interesting list of requests for FCP features found here.  Let me break it down with my opinion on it.  Why?  Because absolutely nobody cares what I think about it, and that’s what blogs are for.

  1. Timeline Scrolls behind Playhead — YES!!!
  2. Not sure what they meant by this.
  3. GUI for audio plugins — YES!!!
  4. Rock solid roundtripping?  Not having any problems.
  5. Native editing of AVCHD & h.264 — No thank you. Don’t want it.
  6. Select all render types in sequence menu — meh.
  7. Scratch disk settings stay with project file? — I used to care. Now I let FCP organize for me.
  8. FW of HDV to LT & Proxy — makes sense, that’s what HDV is, really.
  9. Larger graphic file handling — okay, but it’s not that big of a deal.
  10. Scrolling timeline — well, yeah, but is it that important you mention it twice?
  11. Finder & Browser live linked?  — don’t really need that, but okay
  12. Useful error messages? — Great request
  13. Consistent item location from menu to menu? — I’m lucky, I use the same settings for all my projects.  Set it and forget it. Don’t let clients choose format, I know more about it.
  14. Make use of all processors — Would be nice, wouldn’t it?
  15. Audio timeline waveform improvements — Don’t really care. I use audio software for real audio work.
  16. One menu for all custom window & key layouts, etc. — I’m the only user, but I can see the advantage this would bring.
  17. Save fave effects outside project file — okay.
  18. Rename “Compressor Limiter” to Compressor. — whatever. Are you repeatedly fooled by the misnomer?
  19. Reveal Bruce button — Really don’t care about Bruce.
